Perceived parenting attitudes in relation to ADHD symptoms and aggressive behaviors in a sample of Egyptian children with ADHD

Abstract Background Externalizing behaviors are common in children with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This study was aiming to investigate the perceived parenting attitudes ADHD and their correlates severity of symptoms associated aggressive those children. Accordingly, 140 were assessed using Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview for Children; Conners’ Parent Rating Scale-Revised, Long Version; problem scale Child Behavior Checklist ages 4–18; Perceived Parenting Attitude Scale. Results Assessment behavioral problems participants revealed presence significant externalizing problems. The a similar attitude between mothers fathers. No association is found attitudes, while consistency both fathers positively correlated participants. Conclusions Aggression symptom that should be identified addressed. Although current has aggression children, yet might have positive illusory bias social self-perceptions making it difficult account reliability attitudes; hence, remains clarified whether parents’ attributed children’s or perception caused by previously mentioned bias. For future research, highly recommended assess from points view.
